Okay so I'm running GNU/Linux Ubuntu 12.04, I'm trying to play Borderlands 2 and I know it will work as other players have success playing the game. I was told to install the following:
vcredist vcrun2008 vcrun2010 msxml3 winhttp physx
vcredist returned: "Unknown arg vcredist"
and vcrun2010 gave me this on the installation page: "HRESULT 0x80070643"
other then that, they all installed fine (I think) I open steam that was installed via Wine and locate to ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Borderlands 2/Binaries/Win32
and I type wine Borderlands2.exe
(Note: I also have -NoLauncher on my game's properties for launcher settings thing) It takes a while to open, the splash screen shows, and then the everything just kinda crashes (Black screen).. Anyone know how I can fix this?

I am aware that BattleStar Galactica Online requires the Unity 3D browser plug-in to play. It is currently only available to Windows. I installed the windows version of Firefox 20 using Wine 1.4.1. It ran beautifully and smoothly. Then I installed the United 3D browser plugin version 4.1.2f1 using Wine. I registered for the game and went to play it. However, it gave me this error when the game... started, it is now http://webplayer.unity3d.com//Channels/911c7369eeac/UnityPlayer3.x.x-win32.zip. It opened in Ubuntu's Archive Manager and I extracted the contents to .../Local Settings/Application Data
I want to play Heroes 5 on my ubuntu 13.04. I installed steam and it works. I have purchased the Might and Magic 5 bundle, so I have Heroes 5 with the two expansions and other game that come along... to install Heroes 5 on Wine/PlayOnLinux with the same product key from Steam? Or maybe you can recommend me a way to install it on Linux? Ok. I am trying this with my native ubuntu 12.04 and I have ubuntu 13.04 in Virtual machine on which I am testing installation. Why Steam on Ubuntu 12.04 allows me to install Heroes 5, but it breaks when I press a keyboard key? And why Steam on ubuntu 13.04 says
I recently found there are several layers of programs (some commercial) one can put on top of WINE to run games better and do everything easier. I'm using PlayOnLinu 4.2.1 with Wine 1.7.4 in 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04. I have previously successfully installed Civilization V with both expansion packs and copied C&C The First Decade even before I got Play on Linux, with Wine alone. (although the second didn't work, I didn't have winetricks, now I could really install, not just copy The First Decade folders and files) I've tried just about anything to install the game, installing through the CD
Up until recently, Fallout New Vegas played just fine on my PC, However, I went to play it yesterday and the game loads as far as the Bethesda splash screen (before the main menu) and then freezes. The only way I can get out of this is to restart the PC. I have tried validating my Steam cache and I've also tried re-installing the game, to no avail. I do not have any mods installed. My DxDiag can be found here - http://pastebin.com/gLvyewRw
I've heard Steam will support Linux, but I can't wait. So I want to know if it is possible to play Dota 2 using wine or something. Has anyone tried? I'm on Ubuntu 12.04, and I have never used Wine, so I'm not sure how it works.
My current setup is running Wine version 1.4.1 on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail. Most of the games I've installed via wine worked well on 13.04. I am able to download the OG Planet Game Launcher and it seems to run fine on Wine. Then I click the link from the launcher that downloads SD Gundam Capsule Fighter. It's a 3.1mb file named SDGO_130212.exe. Clearly this file is too small to be the game. Running the file with Wine does absolutely nothing. Has any one gotten this game to work via Wine? Is there an alternative download where I can download the full version of the game?
Is it possible to install the Portal 2 authoring tools without Portal 2 installed. Otherwise, would it be fool steam into thinking I have? The reason I'm asking is that I have Portal 2 installed for mac. However I can also run Steam through wine, to play the games only available for windows. Now I want to install the Portal authoring tools on the wine steam, but Steam wants me to download Portal 2. Could I point Steam to my mac version or do I need PC version for it to work?
Possible Duplicate: Why doesn't Bioshock 2 start from within steam? Windows 7 32 bit. Trying to open Bioshock 2 within the Library menu in Steam. The Securom launcher opens, then the executable itself. Then the entire thing crashes. No splash screen or anything, just a quick appearance in the task manager and both then disappear. I've tried... checking the integrity of the files... and other libs It used to run fine. I think that I haven't been able to play ever since I installed the 260.99 driver. Anyone run into a similar problem like this?
Of The Samurai. Problem Click on icon to launch Total War Shogun 2 in Steam Game asks to start in Direct X mode (Dx9 or Dx10 is enabled) Select either one and the game loads to the Loading / Legal screen. Wait for 10 minutes and the game is still on that screen. Ctrl+Alt+Del to desktop and see that "Shogun 2 is not responding" in task manager.
