I went to Tenpenny's Tower and tried to use diplomacy to let the ghouls in. After several attempts I was stuck, so I decided to let them in the rough way.
I opened the basement passage and went to take a look at the carnage.
Before the ghouls slayed everyone, I was trying to enter my room but I was told that it wasn't safe to enter at that moment. After the ghouls slayed everyone, I was trying to enter my room (I have found one or two keys for it) but I was told that I needed a key.
I gave up on that, but I wanted at least some reward from Roy, and I discovered him laying dead on the floor of the main hall. Can I still get a reward for the mission?
No, you cannot get a reward for the mission anymore.
Roy isn't killed as part of the natural progression of the questline. As he's a non-essential NPC, he probably died in the fighting, somehow, which means you no longer have anyone to give you your reward.
This was originally posted as a comment by Raven Dreamer, but it is the correct answer, so I'm posting it as an answer.
I am at level 56 and erased all my previous saves so going back is not an option. In the college of Winterhold I started the main quest line early on, at level 12. I went up to 'Hitting the Books' and stopped for a while, then went back at level 40ish and did 'Good Intentions'. But after the Archmage died in 'Containment', Mirabelle won't give me the rest of the quest. She was outside instead of inside when she told me to look for him and I can't do the rest of the main quest chain for it. I have done every other guild but the college and refuse to start over.
In the Hounds Pit area there is a tower that also serves as Lady Emily's room. When I look up in that room, there are some floorboards that you can peek through. Also the floorboards are unbreakable. It looks like there is a room above Emily's room, but I can't get up there. There seems to be an open window that leads into the room, but it's so far up that I can't reach it with Blink. Is there a way to enter that room?
In my "Career" menu, I have some confusing numbers. What's the "166"? I thought that was my experience, but my experience is -414, as denoted by the sad face. Is it all the experience I've gained, ignoring the experience I've lost? Or is it something else? What's that number? Curiously, after another game, my experience went up, and that 166 went down.
I have been trying for ages to get my minecraft to use more RAM, but it refuses to allocate more than 20% ram on my 4G computer. I want to allocate 2G, so the first method I tried was to type this into the JVM Arguments box in the edit profile option in the new launcher. This is what everyone told me to type in: -Xms2048 -Xmx2048 Unfortunately after typing this in, saving my profile, and running minecraft, I get a window that pops up that says: there was an error in the Java Virtual Machine. Is there anyway I can get minecraft to allocate more RAM? I also tried going to Java and changing
normally and people just spam cannons away for fun and profit). Things went pretty nice (given that I was alone for pretty much 98% of the level) and I managed to survive enough to reach the final boss with over one million points (you lose 10k on death), then Ugh-Zan arrived. Well, my use-one-bar-then-spam-cannons strategy didn't work so well, perhaps unsurprisingly. So I kept throwing bars at his... to square one. When another player joined the fight, things got worse as each cannonball now made less of a dent on the skin of this serious boss. After a couple of cycles, he left. Then I noticed I'd

I've just found an NPC locked in a cell, and rescued him. He told me he is Knight Lautrec of Carim and he will give me a reward later. However, if I press him, he tell me: I'm free. Now I can get back to work... Keh heh heh heh... I'm worried after hearing this line. He reminds me of Yurt, the Silent Chief in Demon's Soul that went killing other NPCs after you freed him. Did I made a mistake when I freed him? Will he kill other NPCs? Should I kill him right now, while he is still sitting in his cell?
I am stuck on the Fire Fight level. I cannot pass the room where the ship or roof collapsed.
Some folks have had trouble with their mannequins disappearing once you hang armor on them. My problem's worse - for me, the mannequin never appeared in the first place! I bought Vlindrel Hall, the player house in Markarth. There is supposed to be a mannequin in the living room once you buy the living room furnishings, as I did before I went inside the house for the first time. Unfortunately, my living room has the pedestal in the corner where the mannequin should be, but no visible mannequin. Trying to interact with the mannequin by pressing E doesn't work either, so it seems
