I know the worlds are generated randomly by a seed the creation of a new world. I also know that there are rules to how everything is put together. Water only between these levels (as an ocean) ores of type X found in range Y, everything pretty much between 0 and 128.
What I am looking for is if there is also some sort of rhyme or reason to just the overall shape/makeup of land on the surface level. Like is there some sort of ratio that this % of the surface must be covered in water vs land or the like.
I hope this clears up my question as again, I know its all random at the end of the day.
This depends entirely on the random seed used to generate the world.
Update: This blog post by Notch on Terrain generation in Minecraft may be of interest to you even though it doesn't give you the figures you are looking for. Basically: The terrain is generated from Perlin noise with some manipulations to ensure that there is enough land and water. This means the ratio will fall within some range (but I can't say what it is, sorry).
I don't think there is a land\water ratio per 9 square chunks or anything, because my friend (he also plays MineCraft) spawned in a forest biome and even when he tried walking in one direction for 5 MineCraft days however he couldn't find a large body of water anywhere, only small lakes, so unless his world has heaps of underground lakes, there isn't much of a rule to land/water amounts.

I also noticed some cars have better "base" PP than other cars with the same horsepower/weight ratio, but I don't really know how one can properly calculate cornering performance, since it depends of vertical and horizontal center of gravity, car length, the size of tires (type of tire has nothing to do with PP), stability in corners, suspension, etc: any car will perform differently. I guess it's of the form ((horsepower^constant1)/weight)*constant2 + constant3. constant1 being between 1.2 and 2
For the old Commodore 64 game Mars Saga, I've found maps of the caves but no maps of the surface or the cities. Anyone know if they exist somewhere? Additionally, are there any other interesting things on the planet surface besides just the entrances to the cities and caves? I recall mainly just using the surface as a place to level up by fighting nasty creatures. Are there any other interesting things up there, like some Easter eggs perhaps?
In Dead Island Riptide, water features more prominently than in the original Dead Island. Some buildings are close enough to water that you may jump from their roofs to water below. If I jump and land in water from a height that would normally cause me to take falling damage, would landing in water negate it? Does the height of the water matter? There are essentially three heights: shallow, deep, and over-the-head level. Shallow allows you to run in it, but slows you down. Deep doesn't allow you to run. Over-the-head means your vision is submerged and you begin to drown not crouching.
When I try to set a block down or add a block to water or land - it doesn't really seem to matter where - they're breaking. It's like I'm digging when I'm not. I'm in Creative Mode and have been building all kinds of stuff (I'm pretty limited in my designs... still learning). It just started doing it not too long ago. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I may need to do to resolve the issues?
I've been trying to install both Anachronox, and Star Wars: KOTOR on my 128gb Windows Surface Pro. I can install fine, but both crash on startup. I've googled everything i possibly can - installed all updates, patches, driver updates, etc, that i can think of. Anachronox crashes as soon as i click the icon with "Anox.exe ha stopped working" and kotor crashes after the space ship splash screen, with no error whatsoever. I feel like this has something to do with the graphics (intel hd 4000 on the surface pro) but i cannot for the life of me make any progress. Does anyone hve any
In every level, there are a few people to rescue. I know some are missable (like Lumiere), and I was curious - is there a way to know who is missing? Is there some sort of indication that I have rescued everyone in a level, or do I just have to get lucky and notice them all myself?

I had it set to 10 flux units, or what ever the thermal expansion energy units are. 10 flux output per tick. had my quarry humming along at quite a nice clip. but then it stopped after I.... I have also cleared any obstructions (there wasn't any, no lava yet (not deep enough) I even drained the water.) ) so I disconnected the conduit (redstone) from the quarry. then reconnected.... and it starts draining. I play using a sword, shield, bow, and arrows(and a horse of course). I know intelligence isn't incredibly important because I can just let my companions have the party skills, but what Strength/Agility/Charisma ratio should I get for my build?
On some games, like tribal survival management. When you tell a person, to collect "fishes" for example and then ratio is 1 fish/minute and you turn your computer for 2 hours. When you will log in after these 2 hours, you will get 120 fishes. Does this rule apply to Spore? For example, if ratio is 2,0 spice/hour. Over exactly 5 hours, I will get 10 spice?
