  • Are character names permanent? If I don't like mine, am I totally screwed? Chandler

My first impulse was to pick my first name just to see if it was available, because I'm used to normal single names schemes where my first name would be a really rare catch.

Little did I know, Starcraft II actually has a two name scheme now my username is lame because it's "name (name lastname)"

Are there any options other than just buying a new copy of the game?

  • Blizzard announced that they will allow character name changes. They plan on offering the change for free, and then later a paid service to change the name if you so desire:

  • It seems like you can't, according to this GameSpot Forums thread. I think they have the right idea - email Blizzard. It seems completely ridiculous that this feature isn't in the game. If a lot of people email them, perhaps they will implement it.

  • @… But the mainframe usernames consist of three first letters of a given name followed by three first letters of a family name. I was able to figure out those thre first letters, but I had to just try to think of names that start with an ‘R’, and the correct one did not come to me right away, and I just had to try to sort of brute force it going over the list of R-names alfabetically, trying out..., dialogs with a secretary etc., but could not find mention of the good Dr.’s first name. Was there something I’ve missed, or my approach was the correct one?

  • I am currently making a map where all the mobs have names. While beta-testing, I summoned a magma cube named "Limus" with this command: /summon LavaSlime ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"Limus",Size:0.5} (in the 1.8 snapshot 14w06b) Things seemed to work. Except, when I walked away from the slime I could still see the name tag, even when not looking at it. The same thing happened in 1.7.4 once (but I can't remember specifics) - which means it's not 1.8's fault. I have a map in 1.7 which summons named zombies, and they only show their names when you look at them within a certain distance. What data tag

  • I manually renamed one of my starting characters Ashley, which is a common name, but in a later game one of the crew members I got was named Ashley. I was just curious if the game adds names you manually enter to the list it pulls random names from.

  • In the final push at the end of Mass Effect, my squad was crushed by a flaming flying Mako instead of being airlifted out and witnessing a teary goodbye between Kaiden and my Shep (I romanced him and brought him along to the final push). Instead, a Mako crushes them, and I can see my squad's names (Liara and Kaiden) up on the wall when Garrus puts my name up instead of Kaiden, most likely because a flying Mako squished him. I've never seen this happen to my squad before in all my playthroughs of the game, the only difference being this one was on my computer instead of my XBox. I did some

  • I'm playing Need for Speed Shift on my PS3, which I borrowed from a good friend of mine. On every race I can play there is a red dot in the top left corner and the name and laptime of my friend is displayed. As I read on a tooltip during a loadingscreen this means, that he "owns" (?) this race, because he is/was faster then me. I managed to beat his time on the first three tracks an the dot turns green with my name and laptime next to it. After the third race I'm not able to change the dot and information, even if I beat his time. So which are the requierements to change these dots to green

  • When you get a new familiar and are prompted to name them, there are four default suggested names which can be cycled through by pressing triangle. e.g. when you get Mite, the initially suggested name is "Mitey", then if you press triangle you get another suggestion "Matey" then "Mito" then a fourth option then it cycles back to "Mitey" e.t.c. What are the four default suggested names for Mite, Tumbelemur and Seed Sprite? I know this is a bit of a strange question to ask, so thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to answer!

  • In Jewels of the Oracle (the first one), there is a file on the CD named JEWLHINT.MVB. I cannot figure out what it is used for because there do not seem to be a hint function for the game. There is a part in the file that mentions has the words MVBMP2 and Viewer in close proximity, but if that was a thing, it is long gone now and only useless sites mentioning a DLL can be found anymore. Further, in the file there is also a list of room names and one of them mentions both Hall of Order and Succession and Hall of Order and Succession: "Easter Egg". I can’t find anything special about that room
