I have set up three combustion engines to a quarry, all three of them are cooled by one pipe coming from two pumps.
P - Pump Q - Quarry E - Engine P+ +--E +-+-EQ P+ +--E
Sometimes the engines overheat. Should I set up one pump for each engine? This sounds like a bit overhead to me.
Additional question: Where can I find detailed information on how to power machines optimally (eg how many engines do I need to optimally power machine xyz), cooling engines etc.
Instead of attaching the engines directly to the quarry, use conductive pipes to pipe engine energy into the quarry. I have a VERY nice setup using plain steam engines powered by coal from a self feeding glowstone dust generating system using equivalent exchange.
You put a wooden conductive pipe above the steam engine with the engine pointed up, then use stone conductive (or gold) pipes to pipe the energy into the quarry. By piping the energy off the engines, you will never run the risk of them overheating if you're using steam engines, and if your combustion engines have water then they'll be fine too.
it. all full up. quarry froze, still power is draining. so I disconnect each machine one by one. and it was still draining so here is the weird part, I connect ONE redstone energy conduit... tried bumping the power output up one notch to see what that would do for the quarry speed. but it froze, the quarry is just not moving. (the mining arm is still down in the NON finished quarry hole.... it has a gold-ish (electrum-ish) color now. I have 38, yes 38, Industrial Steam engines. These engines are fed by 3 different 36HP Steam Boilers. Each of these engines is hooked up first to a Redstone Energy Conduit line, that then connects... they seem to be putting out is completly wacked. Each engine outputs 8MJ\t. Well, 38 * 8 = 304. I am so not getting 304 MJ from this setup. Even if you calculate in power loss due to transfer I'm still not getting near what I should be. 8 * .05 = .4 So each engine actually outputs 7.6 MJ\t after the conduit. That comes to 288.8 for all 38 engines, minus another 25% (72.2) due to Tesseracts
Generators. This is hooked up to a BatBox, keeping it maxed out all the time. I then have an Electrical Engine with a Bronze, Tin, and Iron upgrade powering the Quarry. After re-reading the wiki on the Quarry, it says it can take up to 100 MJ. I believe my Electrical engine (with it's upgrade) is using 27 EU/t and generating 8 MJ/t (is there an MJ reader?). This equates to (30000 EU / Bucket * 8 MJ / 27 EU/t) 8888 MJ / Bucket of lava. If I wanted to be more efficient on the Lava side of things, wouldn't it make sense to just use Magmatic Engine engines which are at 18000 MJ / Bucket
I'm currently looking into the how redstone works in Minecraft and I stumbled across this behaviour and I can't explain why this works. Legend: Obsidian Block: O Redstone Wire: |, +, - Glowstone Lamp: L OLO LOL | | Right so if I power the redstone wire, all three Lamps light up although there is no real connection to them. This however won't light the Lamp: -+ L| O| I read through the Minecraft wiki but there was nothing explaining this. How does this work?
I have setup a 4 lava pumps to pump out lava in the nether to a tank in the overworld. Unfortunatley only one pump is working despite having the exact same setups. Is there a limit to how many pumps you can have in one chunk? I have provided a screenshot of my setup. As you can probably (or not) see, they have exactly the same setups. Each with the exact same I/O's. Anyone have any idea how to get them all to work? They all seem to be pumping but in the three that aren't working, no lava is being inputted into the magmatic engine.

The code is 139 and according to the hint button, the symbols follow a base 3 pattern - "One dot, two dots, one line, one line and one dot, and so on", and the missing symbol has to fit that pattern. When I align "One dot" with the number 1, the solution to 139 seems to be: One dot One Line Three Lines but when I enter that solution, I get a "Wrong code" indication. I have two set-ups for crops for two different fields. In the large crop field, my set-up is like this: F: Fertilizer, C: Crop, -/|: Furrow F-F-F-F | | F F F | | | F-F-F F | F-F-F-C This set-up works, the crop is consistently showing signs of fertilization and I pull increasingly higher starred crops from it. My other set-up, which is placed in one of the more significantly... is working, but it isn't. Is there any reason why my second set-up isn't working?
According to the Feed the Beast Wiki article, Electrical Engines take 6 EU/t and output 2 MJ/t. Since I'm powering a forestry machine outside of my main power station, I wanted to use efficient cabling to transfer power to the engines. So I thought I'd use Tin Cable because it's much cheaper than Glass Fibre Cable. However, Tin Cable can only withstand 5 EU/t; no problem, just upgrade my Electrical Engines with a Small Curcuit Board containing an Iron Electron Tube, which reduces the power required by 1 EU/t. So I built two Electric Engines, and gave them both a Small Curcuit Board
I have a windmill and it is transmitting power to a gear assembly below. The gear assembly is connect to an axle so it looks like this: ground level: X is windmill XXX XXX XXX below: G is gear A is axle OOO OGO OAO OAO OGO DF says this is all powered, so no problems yet. I built my pump so that it's half on the bottom G, ie. the gear assembly is directly one tile below my pump. However it does not have power. Any ideas? Edit: Sideview would be WWW P GAAG
