One of the many games I've picked up recently is Breath of Death VII. While I am certainly digging the classic JRPG vibe, it also brings back unpleasant memories from Final Fantasy II.
In Final Fantasy II, trying to run around aimlessly would simply get you killed 99% of the time, as you would suddenly be jumped by monsters that could kill you by merely blinking in your direction (which was the game's "clever" way of letting you know you should only visit that portion of the game world later).
Does this happen in Breath of Death as well, or does the game allow, or even encourage, exploring your surroundings for hidden goodies?
Every area of the game has a limited amount of encounters, with the overworld zones having the most. Generally, after a bit of grinding, you can be leveled enough to wander around without a significant threat to your survival (as long as you don't go to the next area without sufficiently leveling first). As a rule of thumb, if you kill everything in an area, you are ready to move on to the next level-wise.
Final Fantasy 13 had some trophies that required you to collect items that could be missed, and would require you to start a brand new game if you wanted to collect the item, does Final Fantasy 13-2 have any such trophies?

I just downloaded the iPhone version of Final Fantasy II (as in, the original NES Final Fantasy II, not Final Fantasy IV, which was sold in the US as "II"). As the answerers of this question will know, the game has a unique "strengthen what you use" leveling system. I remember that in the NES version, you could game this system to your advantage in the following ways: Beat the crap out... repeatedly select "fight" to boost your weapon's hit rate). Does anybody know if any of these tricks still work in the iPhone version? If so which ones? I haven't been able to test the most easily
I was wondering if is it possible to use my original PSOne saved games (in particular, from Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX and Tactics) on the digital games downloaded from the PlayStation Store. Obviously after transfering these save files via the PS3 Memory Card adapter.
Can you fly the Blackjack freely in the overworld in Final Fantasy VI? I just finished the opera scene and it brought me to the other continent. I can't seem to be able to fly it freely like the Highwind in Final Fantasy VII. Am I missing something?
Possible Duplicate: In Final Fantasy VII is there any way to save Aeris? I just finished Disc 1 of Final Fantasy VII where Sephiroth killed Aeris. Is Aeris permanently out of your party? The reason I ask is that I found Aeris has a level 4 limit break called Great Gospel.

In Final Fantasy II, your characters have no restrictions with what they can attack with, wear as armour or cast as spells. Each character just gets better at whatever it is you make them do... that give the penalty to Intelligence and Soul/Spirit for each weapon or armour piece. The wiki also adds an enigmatic comment - "later versions of Final Fantasy II removed the int/spr penalty" - without providing any details regarding what is meant by "later". So, what specific version of Final Fantasy II removed the magic penalty for wielding weapons and wearing armour?
