What is the difference between armor and rating?

Can anyone tell me why an item with 25 armour (rating 54) is better than 228 armour (rating 48)?

I've put in some mods to the trousers.

  • It's a typo on tooltip for the item in question.

Torhead reports the item as having 307 armor, which matches what the "Stat Changes" box would lead one to expect ( 228 + 79 = 307)

Scuttlebutt says that this value will properly show up after you equip it, just not before.

I assumed Technique meant the character is easier to control and Graffiti meant either large graffiti is easier to cover up or they could carry more spray paint cans. From a small amount of personal testing I can't really tell the difference between the three starting characters. I also have zero idea what "Power" would mean unless it's health. What do the character stats mean?

If you have a look at this ME Wikia page for the Shuriken, it displays the same gun model for both ME2 and ME3. In the ME2 infobox, it shows the bonus damage it does to various types of defence, but in the ME3 infobox, it doesn't and neither does the description. Does ME3 implement this sort of bonus damage or has it been removed? If it does, then how can I see them?
