What's with the spider?

  • What's with the spider? Iszi

In the Dark Brotherhood's Sanctuary, near where Babette usually sits, there's a spider. This spider is unique in that it is not aggressive, and does not even appear labeled or named when you approach it.

If you kill it, you will find that its corpse is named Lis and it carries the usual spider loot of Frostbite Venom and the occasional miscellaneous items. It also has a Petty soul, which is fairly normal for a spider of its size. And then, you'll quickly find all the members of the Dark Brotherhood (except Babette, as she is technically a child) are now aggro. This can occur even if you were hidden when you made the kill.

However, I've yet to find any in-game source of a back-story for Lis. Can anyone shed some light on this?

  • According to this wiki Lis is a member of the Dark Brotherhood, careful though as the wiki contains spoilers!

Lis is a friendly frostbite spider and a member of the Dark Brotherhood. Lis dies when the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary is torched by the Penitus Oculatus during Death Incarnate.

  • Lis is not Babettes it's Gabriel's. It dies when the sanctuary is burnt down.

  • I am close to finishing the "To Kill an Empire" mission in Skyrim. I learned that after this mission... ...most of the members of the Brotherhood will be slain. Just recently, I learned some info that caught my attention that says "Subsequently, Gabriella is killed during the Penitus Oculatus assault on the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary (You can extract her blood using Essence Extractor for Discerning the Transmundane quest). Her corpse can be found on the table where Festus Krex, Babette, and herself usually stayed." Reference: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Gabriella It got me

  • * Spoilers below of Dark Brotherhood questline * In the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary; ... after the quest to kill the emperor completes, you find Nazir and kill the guy fighting him - you then decide that you must both escape the sanctuary quickly as it's burning - during which time the Night Mother speaks to you and tells you to join her as it's your only chance of salvation. When I do this, it starts a cut-scene and the screen goes dark. You then hear what appears to sound like the building collapsing - at this point my Console freezes and requires a hard power-off/power-on. I retried

  • The Achievement "Golden Idol" says: Kill the golden Walker I am aware that the achievements for Super Sanctum TD are super bugged td, so maybe I've done this already, didn't see it in the cluster of death and have no indication because of the rarely functioning achievements, but where/when does this gold Walker appear? Even if I can't get the achievement for it, I should still be able to meet this notable enemy and rid it of its pesky existence. To even test if I can get the achievement, I would still first need to find it.

  • So I have seen on in several places that it is possible to pickpocket trainers after training with them. Is there a list of pickpocketable trainers? I tried to do this with Babette in the Dark Brotherhood... but when I go into sneak mode... it seems I am unable to pickpocket her as when I place the crosshairs over her it shows nothing. Are there only certain trainers this works with?

  • So I use the PS3 version of Skyrim and I had my Dark Brotherhood initiate with me in the Tower of Mzark but she kept getting in the way when I was pushing buttons. So I asked her to wait on the path leading up to it. I accidentally left her there. When I realized she was gone I rushed back only to find her not there. I checked the DawnStar Sanctuary. She's not there either. I doubt she died. When I left her, she was stacked with armor and weapons fit to 3 hit a giant.

  • First of all I'm trying to avoid repeating this question: What should I consider when deciding to join or destroy the Dark Brotherhood? I was reading http://elderscrolls.wikia.com and I have a few doubts about the history line. I read that you can kill Astrid, but then you can join the Dark Brotherhood anyway, if you do not choose to start another history. Is that correct? My idea is to try to complete this questline but then kill 'em all. So I think I'll kill Astrid first. My questions are: If I kill Astrid can I really join the dark brotherhood and then once I've completed

  • I'm trying to find interesting books to put in my bookshelves so they're not all... empty and stuff. I saw a reference to a book named The Five Tenets, a Dark Brotherhood book. I looked at the wiki for any locations of it, and it's only found in the two sanctuaries. I can't seem to find it in the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary though and I don't want to put everything on it being in the Dawnstar Sanctuary without knowing for sure that it will be there.

  • Please be careful not to spoil anything, i'm coming into this game untainted. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this game had an interesting combat mechanic You can kill a character permanently for one battle of power. At first, I was intending to do a good guy/pacifist run, as is my norm. NOPE. It's battle number 4 or 5 (Mission is to kill Edward at the guillotine) and I am... the enemies to get harder... I was expecting that it only meant I didn't get items. The worse you are doing, the harder the enemies get and the fewer items. Game design at its best. So I guess I have

  • I'm on the Dark Brotherhood 'Mourning Never Comes' quest, to kill Alain Dufont. I'm standing atop of the ledge looking down on him. According to TES wiki, you are supposed to be able to fire the Dwemer Ballista in order to kill him, but that doesn't work. When I fire off the explosive arrows, they hit the ground at his feet but nothing happens. Alain and his bandits don't even react to being hit and they take no damage. Has anyone encountered this bug?
