  • Will my Minecraft 1.1 world ever contain a Jungle biome? gnovice

Now that Minecraft 1.2 has been released, I'm wondering how much of the new stuff added will ever appear in the world that I started playing in 1.1. Specifically, a new Jungle biome has been added, and the wiki page says this:

Jungles will only generate in chunks generated after 1.2.1.

I'm not sure how to interpret this. If I walk far enough in my world I started in 1.1 to a chunk I've never visited before, does it have a chance of being a Jungle biome? I guess what I'm generally asking is if the biome of a chunk is determined when the world is generated, or when the chunk is first visited?

  • Yes. If you move outside the areas you have previously visited, the new biome type will have a chance of showing up.

Confirmed this in both singleplayer and multiplayer.

  • Yes. If you visit a chunk that's never been generated before, and using the new world generator that chunk would be jungle, it will be jungle.

Note that you'll get hard edges between old and new chunks, where the terrain doesn't match up.

  • I've been reading in the Crawl wiki about the Lair. Somewhere it says the following: Note that a scroll of magic mapping will not display this secret room. But this text seems unrelated to the previous text, wich talks about the room with demons (wich a scroll does reveal) or a hidden stash in the jungle temple layout, wich are not so secret if you can find it just by walking. Is there any room or secret you have to find by burning the jungle or digging around? In wich specific layout?

  • I just started a new Minecraft world with the MineColonies mod and I stumbled across something I've never seen before. A bunch of woolen buildings resembling igloos. They all appear to be empty. Neither the Minecraft wiki nor the Minecolony* wiki appear to list anything about it. Why are these buildings here? *Minecolony is the abandoned predecessor of the recently undertaken MineColonies incarnation. MineColonies does not appear to have a separate wiki, so I used Minecolony's.

  • both at the same time. Here you can, and it's a wonder id ever released the game without this option.1   The chief advancement ... is the addition of the so-called "duct tape" mod, that allows players to wield a weapon while the flashlight is on. The original Doom 3 kept the flashlight as a separate item, meaning you had to plunge the world into total darkness if monsters suddenly attacked... Is there an option to disable the now default "duct tape" mod, so as to imitate the original Doom 3 settings? This is a common question under reviews, but I haven't seen it answered thus far.
