I did not level much after my last improvement for a dwarven bow, which gives a legendary status of 77 while using a ring, a necklace, an outfit and gloves that improve smithing around 25%. I also took a smithing elixir. (50% improvement)
However, I improved my enchanting skills so I wanted to create a new bow and enhance it, so I smithed a dwarven bow and improved it, however the legendary status was stuck at 63 damage !! Why would it decrease by more than 10 points ? Keep in mind that I used the same fortify smithing outfit and elixir.
I tried enhancing an extra necklace to give +1% smithing, and I maxed it out to 66. Which is still 10 points below the previous improvement.
Is this normal? Am I missing something? What could have caused this?
Note: I'm playing this on the Xbox 360.
According to the Smithing wiki page, your effective smithing comes from a few factors:
Effective Smithing skill = ((Smithing Skill - 13.29) * (1 + Perk) * (1 + Enchant) * (1 + Potion)) + 13.29
Since you are playing on xbox360 (no console commands), you are unlikely to have lost the
perk or have your
Smithing Skill decrease.
Potion modifiers. It's worth noting that these modifiers multiply - they are not additive. If you used 100% enchant and 50% potion one time, and 125% enchant and 25% potion another time, you won't get the same result. 100% | 50% is better than 125% | 25%. A point of potion is worth more than a point of enchant for the values you are likely to use.
The most likely explanations are:
Bow damage calculations were patched in 1.5 and 1.6 - perhaps the issue is pre-patch bow vs post-patch bow.
Only solution was to revert to a previous auto-save !
weapons and armor (I'd pay a mountain of gold to Eorlund or Festus Krex if they can just upgrade my Daedric bow to legendary and add a couple of choice enchantments), and idly surfing the 'net, I found information about the atronach forge! I can make Daedric weapons now without having to waste perk points on heavy armor smithing. However, I would like to know if wearing enchanted smithing apparel (bought from radiant raiment), and downing a blacksmith's elixir and going to work on the grindstone, will give me the same level of improvement as having the perk point for Daedric artifacts
I have been using Lydia and have noticed the following: If I put on a ring, armor, boots, necklace and head piece all with bow damage percentage increase, my bow damage rating in my own inventory screen goes up to about 140 for an ebony bow. If i then give this bow to Lydia, the damage on the bow is the 140. If I give her the bow to start then give her the clothing with bow damage percentage increases, the bow damage remains at the base level in her inventory screen. Same thing if I give her the bow with bonus damage to start then give her the clothing. The bow damage always remains
While experimenting at the Auction House, I noticed that there were several copies of a particular Legendary necklace, called "Squirt's Necklace," for sale for crazy prices. I know that Squirt is a merchant in the Bazaar during Act 2, but I didn't see her selling this item, and she heavily implies that she would hurt me if I was to try to take it from her directly. It's a level 24 necklace from what I understand, so it would work well with my mid-to-late 20's Witch Doctor. However, the prices for this item on the AH are crazy high. Is there any reliable way to get this item? Does
The XCOM Wikia Temple Ship Assault page mentions that one could take a Field Medic Support to get medikits that heal 10HP. Below is the quote: At least one Field Medic Support with Savior and Improved Medikits (for option to heal 10 HP) will likely be crucial for survival and mission success. After completing the Improved Medikit Foundry project, one gets the health recovered by the use of a Medikit increased from 4 to 6. How do I get the medikit improvement from 6 to 10HP?
I've enchanted a ring, necklace, and apron to each give me a 20% bonus to smithing which is already at 100. On top of that, I have some blacksmith elixirs that give a 50% smithing bonus. Using all these items at the smithing wheel, I've been able to improve my ebony greatword and war hammer to legendary status without the perk that allows me to craft ebony armor and improve it twice as much..., will I experience even higher damage/armor ratings when improving ebony gear or am I pretty much able to use my magical items to augment my smithing ability as far as the game will allow?
I came across something rather strange today: improving armor with no perks, 4x 29% fortify smithing enchanted items, and a 130% fortify smithing potion (made via 4x 29% alchemy enchantments), I was able to improve ebony armor to 99 points, but glass armor to 102 points. That's in spite of the fact that (according to the uesp wiki) ebony armor's base is 43, and the base for glass is 38, so ebony should come out at least +5 over glass. Can anyone reproduce this result? Any theories on why it happened? I had previously improved the glass armor to legendary with lower quality gear (4x 25
I have Smithing to level 100, but only up to Arcane in perks. I have four pieces of +25% smithing enchanted gear. I noticed sometimes the enchant doesn't show up so I have to re-equip and then it appears under active effects. While wearing all four pieces I could only improve a daedric bow to 51 damage. This seemed off to me, so as an experiment I took off one of the +25% smithing items and tried improving a iron dagger. To my disappointment I noticed not wearing one of the enchanted pieces resulted in the same improvement. Anyone else having this issue and know how to get around
level 46+ Version of Chillrend and Nightingale Blade (which I now realized that for some reason, it can't be improved with smithing). Which would be the best Dagger (for assassination purposes...I am currently playing the style I love the most : Stealth Archer with a Bit of Conjuration . I currently have two points in the Smithing Tree (base point + Arcane Blacksmith), and I don't know if I... am currently using the level 46 version of the Nightingale Bow Upgraded (for leveled items, check here) with 100 base smithing (no pots or break exploit), plus the nightingale set with no upgrades so
So I have reached level 100 for smithing, and I have created dragon armor and raised it to legendary. I did this by filling out the right side of the smithing tree (orcish, dwarven, ebony, etc). Will I gain anything by filling out the left side (plate, glass, etc)?
