"Shuggy has stopped working" error

  • "Shuggy has stopped working" error Oak

I've just tried installing the Adventures of Shuggy demo on Steam, but unfortunately it crashes immediately after launch with the message

    Shuggy has stopped working

Here's a screenshot of how the crash looks like:

    shuggy crash

Upon examining Windows event viewer logs, I see that a .NET runtime error was reported:

    Application: Shuggy.exe
    Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
    Exception Info: System.IO.FileNotFoundException
    at Shuggy.Program.Main(System.String[])

My usual approach for launch errors of Steam games, validating the local file integrity, didn't help. Does anyone know how to address this issue? System is Windows 7 64-bit.

  • I had the same issue, and installing the redistributables from the install directory fixed it for me.

  • My PC is running Windows 7. I tried installing Steam. I downloaded the program. When I attempt to run it, it loads about half way and gives me an error message: Steam.exe (main exception): ERROR delete of Steam.exe failed, Win32 Error 5 "Access is denied" I have no idea why this would happen and cannot find any answers anywhere online or among my friends or colleagues. I've never had any problems with Steam before. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice given.

  • I've been playing Fallout 3 GOTY edition (via Steam). So far the game has been relatively well-behaved - good performance, and only an occasional crash (like once every 3 hours, which is something I can live with). However, in the recent hour or so it has became worse; in particular, every time I open a container the game freezes for around a second, and crashing becomes much more frequent... throughout the rest of game (though I do carry more weapons and less armor than what I used to). Is this a known issue? Any idea how to solve this problem? System is Windows 7 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, Core 2
