A while back, my old PS3 died. Recently, I got a new PS3 and started playing some games on it. Eventually, I'm going to see what I can do about getting someone to fix up the old PS3 so that I can get all of the old save data off of it. Problem is that I don't know if I'll be able to keep the save data that I have on my new PS3.
The only solution that I can think of is saving the save data from my new PS3 online through PS+ and then putting it back in. However, I'm worried that it'll overwrite the save data that's currently on the PS3, so one way or another, I'll end up giving up one set of save data for the other.
Is there any way that I can keep my old and new save data on one console?
It depends on the data you want to keep from each console. When using the Backup or Data Transfer Utilities the destination system will be formatted and you can only keep the data of one console.
When you use an external HDD or USB thumb drive you should be able to copy everything except copy protected game saves, PSN titles and demos. Copying copy protected saves is only possible via Backup or online storage (sources: here and here).
You may also run in another problem when trying to copy your game saves: some games use saves that are bound to your console and can't be copied to another console. Here is a quite comprehensive list of games with locked game saves.
You'll have the option if you want to overwrite or not.
When copying data using the Save Data Utility, if the destination (whether the PS3, a storage device or the PS+ online storage) already has a save of the same game (on the same slot, if applicable), you'd see a prompt asking you if you wish to overwrite the save, so you can do the copy process without worrying of accidentally overwriting your save.
However, using a system transfer or restoring a backup completely removes any previous data on the target console, so if you wish to keep the saves on your new console, make sure to copy them beforehand to a storage device or PS+ storage, then restore them after the transfer/restore completes.
If you connect your PS3 to a USB, you can go into settings and there is an option to transfer all data to the drive. You can then take it to another ps3 and input it into that and then just go into the same place in settings again and re-transfer your data.
I had two profiles with Scott Pilgrim save data before I lost my first PS3, which I (thought I) restored to my new PS3 via a backup. However, since the Wallace update, when I go to try and play the game again I only get the option to play as the "Guest" profile, which cannot save data. My main profile (which is connected to a PSN account and owned my old play data) is not accessible at all. I created 2 new profiles and these profiles show up alongside Guest (and presumably can actually save their data). Is there any way to allow my main account to create save data for this game again
I'm spoiled by being able to back up all of my save/game data on my PS3, PC, Vita etc, so I'm a little concerned that there isn't a straight up "back up all the things" option in the Wii U settings... like if all my game/save content is on an external device I should be able to back up that device and keep all my content, right? So if all my content is on an external drive can I really back it up..., if something happens to my Wii U, will I be able to use my external drive's content in any way on a new Wii U system?
Is there a tool that I can use to convert my PS3 saves to Mac-formatted ones? If there isn't one, is there a program I can use to "read" my PS3 save data so I can manually convert a Mac save to a duplicate of that data?
most of the data I have on there is stuff I can easily do again, or at least enjoy again. However, my main concern is for my Little Big Planet 2 data. I'm not playing through all of that again, because I don't need to. You see, I'm a composer and I used to use the music sequencer in LBP 2 to compose my music. But the PS3 broke, and I got a new one for Christmas. Is there any way for me to be able to take the LBP 2 data from my old PS3 and put it in the new one? I want to be able to look at the notes of my songs and re-create them on FL Studio. It would be a great help if somebody would tell
I've had a 160 GB PS3 for almost 3 years now, and would like to back up my data in case something happens to the console, particularly if I get a YLOD(which would totally suck, as I really love my... be worried about?(I can handle just re-downloading; I got a decent cable speed, so that'll be fine) And finally, I've heard a lotta great things about PSN Plus, including the ability to save game data, as well as trophies and saves. But will it be able to transfer the backup data to a new PS3 incase the old one dies and the original stuff can no longer be recovered by ordinary means?
other service? 3) Is there any way I can get my saved data off of there if I'm unable to get the original system to boot? I'm afraid the answer here is "no", but it really drives me crazy that the HD is perfectly fine and my saved data is completely in tact, and I have a perfectly new PS3, with absolutely no way to get the saved data from that HD to my new one. UPDATE: Upon more digging..., but the video is corrupt and the system is locked (doesn't respond to any input at all, including the power switch). I had already purchased a new PS3, in hopes to pull the data off the YLOD'd one
of anything. I'm about 50% through the game and I wanted to invest on the BAWSAQ. So I created a PlayStation network account from my phone. Then I hooked up the Internet and tried to sign in. But apparently someone had already used this account with a different login. So I created a new account on the PS3 and copied my most recent save over. Now I am getting the error message: "You did... assassinations. I would appreciate any help. This is my first time ever playing on a PlayStation. I usually play PC games. I have enough knowledge that if I need to edit the save game file on my my computer
($$) or by transferring data from the old system to the new one through provided system tool on the console. (Problem with latter case is that you have to have both consoles up and running at that time, which is not the case if you buy a new one cause the first one crashed, or if you sell the old one to be able to buy the new one). I then wanted to know if there is a somewhat official and up-to-date (maintained) list of games fitting this category so that I can know if I'm concerned or not and if my external HDD backup is enough or not in case my console crashes. I've seen some lists here
because I still play it to this day and wanted the convenience of having it on my hard drive. Unfortunately, after buying and playing it, the original save file wouldn’t work as the files are named differently (one is Persona 4 ARENA, the other is Persona 4 ARENA [DL]) and Sony wouldn’t give me a refund. I got a tip on how to convert my original save file into the new one and I even found a video showing this process. However, there are some differences that are impeding me to do so. My save folder includes the following files: ICON0.PNG PARAM.PFD PARAM.SFO PIC1.PNG SYSTEM.DAT I assumed
