According to the Feed the Beast Wiki article, Electrical Engines take 6 EU/t and output 2 MJ/t. Since I'm powering a forestry machine outside of my main power station, I wanted to use efficient cabling to transfer power to the engines. So I thought I'd use Tin Cable because it's much cheaper than Glass Fibre Cable. However, Tin Cable can only withstand 5 EU/t; no problem, just upgrade my Electrical Engines with a Small Curcuit Board containing an Iron Electron Tube, which reduces the power required by 1 EU/t.
So I built two Electric Engines, and gave them both a Small Curcuit Board upgrade with Iron Electron Tube. I connected them to a Logger and Arboretum, and then wired up some Tin Cable from an LV transformer pulling off of my main power storage. As soon as I placed the last cable, the whole cable exploded and disappeared! Isn't the EU/t based on what is being requested on the far end, which should be 5 EU/t? Why can't I use Tin Cable in this situation?
The LV Transformer outputs 32 eu/packet which causes the cable to explode. It doesn't matter how much is requested as the EU network deals in packets.
All machines that run on EU have a certain packet size they can accept or output. This is independent of what is doing the accepting.
Tin cables are only meant to collect the output from low tier generators (like solars and water mills) into a aggregator which transforms it into a higher setup of energy.
Generators. This is hooked up to a BatBox, keeping it maxed out all the time. I then have an Electrical Engine with a Bronze, Tin, and Iron upgrade powering the Quarry. After re-reading the wiki on the Quarry, it says it can take up to 100 MJ. I believe my Electrical engine (with it's upgrade) is using 27 EU/t and generating 8 MJ/t (is there an MJ reader?). This equates to (30000 EU / Bucket * 8 MJ / 27 EU/t) 8888 MJ / Bucket of lava. If I wanted to be more efficient on the Lava side of things, wouldn't it make sense to just use Magmatic Engine engines which are at 18000 MJ / Bucket
I have Magmatic Engines powering a Redstone Energy Cell. Is there a way to configure the cell to emit a redstone signal once it's full, so I can use said signal to rurn off my engines so they dont waste lava?
There are a large number of MJ consuming machines that I wish to have the attached electrical engine only active when the machine needs power. How do I have an attached electrical engine turn off when not required? So, either a method of turning the engine on when there are items in the attached machine, or having the engine only active when the machine's MJ supply is not full. My base is using specifically right now, the Forestry Squeezer and Centrifuge, the Liquid Transposer, and a Builcraft Refinery.
I am figuring out the buildcraft filler. Clearing a region works but i cannot get the program to build anything. I am using bricks(336) for the patters filling all the 9 slots. I also have plenty of resources to fill me region. The region is connected to the filler and is colored black/yellow. Maybe it is not having enough power, i do not understand all the power EU, MJ, etc and converting it. But i hooked up 3 generators to 2 batboxes and linked the 3 electric engines with gold insulated cable. Like i said the filler is clearing the area but not filling it, maybe it does not have enough
they seem to be putting out is completly wacked. Each engine outputs 8MJ\t. Well, 38 * 8 = 304. I am so not getting 304 MJ from this setup. Even if you calculate in power loss due to transfer I'm still not getting near what I should be. 8 * .05 = .4 So each engine actually outputs 7.6 MJ\t after the conduit. That comes to 288.8 for all 38 engines, minus another 25% (72.2) due to Tesseracts... of requesting nothing. There is a lot going on here, so I wish to clarify. I want to know why my engines are not outputting what they should be. I also want to know wtf is wrong with my 2nd bank of engines
When I first upgrade my shielding to 3 bars, I tried powering it up. However it says "Requires System Upgrade". What system upgrade do I need to power this up? I have enough reactor energy so I'm not sure what I need. Do I have to buy it from a merchant?
, and this makes it very easy to use without problems. I'd like to set up my BC power network to be as well-behaved as my IC power network. I was able to get an Autarchic Gate to toggle the cell on/off using the 'Inventory is Full' setting when beside a machine, but this would require a Gate beside every machine connected to the power network. I would rather use a single gate to turn the cell on or off if any machine connected to the cable is working, like a 'Load Connected' setting for the gate. How can I do that?
I'm at quite an early stage of the game in terms of power generation but I have (possibly unwisely) started making Applied Energistics equipment as I really want to use it to manage the masses of storage I have not yet got a purpose for. I am using an generator to charge 3 batboxes and connected to those I have a macerator, compressor and electric furnace via copper cable. I also have hooked up my AE network to this but I don't want to use it all the time. How can I switch certain parts of this powered electrical network on and off in order to only run certain things at certain times
I have set up three combustion engines to a quarry, all three of them are cooled by one pipe coming from two pumps. P - Pump Q - Quarry E - Engine P+ +--E +-+-EQ P+ +--E Sometimes the engines overheat. Should I set up one pump for each engine? This sounds like a bit overhead to me. Additional question: Where can I find detailed information on how to power machines optimally (eg how many engines do I need to optimally power machine xyz), cooling engines etc.
