Ok so I've seen the other questions about installing games onto another drive(SSD) and I've already done that properly for any new game that I have been getting.
However I want to know if there is a proper way to transfer games from my old drive over to the new drive without having to uninstall and then re-download them.
I already tried copying the folders over but all that does is make steam not know where the games are anymore and I'm not sure how to change the location that it looks for a particular game once it is already installed on my C drive.
I've been attempting to activate pre-installed games on Desura, which is possible in the application - there is a problem, though. Apparently it doesn't register the games you have installed on your other Harddrives. For example; Games on my D: drive aren't being detected, only games installed on my C: drive are detected by Desura. The problem with this, is that if I wanted to download mods for my pre-installed Amnesia, I can't as Desura doesn't register that I already own and have already paid for Amnesia. Anyone know of this issue?
Possible Duplicate: Installing in games Origin already obtained via Steam Now that I've installed Origin, I have the option of registering some of my other EA games (Dead Space 1 & 2, etc) on it. These are games that I've bought and already activated on Steam. So what exactly happens if I re-register them on Origin? Do they get 'copied' across, so I can play them from either service? Do they get 'moved' across, so they are no longer accessible from Steam? If this is the case, are save games compatible? (I'm guessing they are...) What about Steam achievements? I hope

I installed games onto another internal drive, and since yesterday steam seems to have forgotten that games are installed on that drive, I don't want to download all the games again, help?
drive in and was expecting it to read DVDs (not games until I swapped PCB or flashed), however I'm still getting the "Open Tray" fault. It was my understanding that it should have played DVDs fine, is this correct? I wanted to check before I open the new drive up in case I can return it. Is it possible that the new drive has a fault already (it was listed as new not reconditioned); or do I have... to no avail. I decided to get a replacement drive off eBay, knowing that if I got the same model I could either swap the old PCB into the new drive or failing that flash the new PCB with the key from
. I've heard some icky backup suggestions like manually copying files. However, since you can move games/their saves over 100% to an external source (which I should then be able to back up), it seems like if all my game/save content is on an external device I should be able to back up that device and keep all my content, right? So if all my content is on an external drive can I really back it up..., if something happens to my Wii U, will I be able to use my external drive's content in any way on a new Wii U system?
should now be fully installed in Steam... Steam already checked the game cache, and it was OK. The problem is that SHIFT TAB is not working and my achievements are not "popping" on screen once I achieve them, even tho they are working correctly. Any idea of why they are not appearing on my in game screen once I achieve them? ...I bought Borderlands GOTY pack on Steam, but I already had it downloaded (piracy, yarn). I uninstalled the game and imported it on steam using this method: Install the game to the hard drive from
My old Xbox RRoD'd on me so I've gone out Xbox hunting. I've got a new Slimline 250gb Xbox, I'm trying to get the data off my old drive on to it. I've got the old drive hooked up in a SATA Caddy so I can access it through Explorer on my PC. I've made an image of the drive, but I'm not sure what to do next. Anyone got any ideas? It's mainly the saved games I want over, I've formatted a USB Flash drive on the Xbox already, but it's full of Data00001 type files so I'm not sure what/if anything can be done from there. Help much appreciated.
the first time I've had this problem, I had it on another computer a while ago and I know I fixed it but I don't remember how. I already tried verifying game integrity. ...I just restarted Borderlands 2, it was working fine a minute ago. When I restarted it, the first thing I noticed was it didn't select my default character, but instead it selected a level 1 Axton as the default character. Then I noticed no one was online, which is wrong, there's always someone online. I checked the Network settings and LAN was selected, so I tried selecting another option to get
